The Quiet Moments of Home Ministry Assignment

I was traveling this weekend to speak at a church in Alabama and decided to break up the trip by staying in Calvary, GA (population: 161) with my mother’s brother, Jack.

I always enjoy the quiet, slower pace of a small town.  It was refreshing to hear Uncle Jack’s stories and to get caught up on all the family news.  We had dinner at a local restaurant filled with young families who had obviously spent the day outdoors fishing, hunting or hiking.  The day was finished by sneaking a taste of the freshly baked Christmas fruit cake and a cup of tea.

I love these quiet moments.

The next morning my travels continued but not before stopping to take a picture of a small bench under a pecan tree near the fields of cotton.  It seemed that someone had created the perfect spot to sit, be quiet for a moment and reflect on God’s faithfulness and blessings.

We have such busy lives.  It is important to take time to find a quiet place to sit, remember and be thankful.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving.
